A Taxi is not a Billboard!

New Billboard Tax

The City of Toronto has decided to levy a new tax on billboard advertising.  The New Third Party[1] sign tax is estimated to bring in $5.2 million in new tax revenues in 2010, and $10.4 million in 2011.[2]

The amount of tax payable would increase with the overall size of the sign.

The new Sign By-law is expected to come into effect on April 6, 2010. Furthermore, the report also recommends that the tax be indexed annually in accordance with property tax rates to protect tax revenue from erosion by inflation.

Recommended Action: Use Taxi Advertising!
